Moving From Finding God to Knowing God

Satan knows God better than any of us, and knows a great deal about Him, but NOT in a loving relationship such as we are called to. Jesus explained our need to love God in Matthew 22: 37–39:

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.”

The word used for love, agape, signifies ‘divine love’, which is described in 1Corinthians 13. You see, “GOD IS LOVE, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him” (1John 4:16).

To “abide” is a verb. It is active. Abiding in Christ is not a feeling but something we do. It means to “remain” or “stay” and John 15:5 further illustrates this abiding relationship with a parallel relationship of a vine and a branch. A branch withers and dies if it breaks off the tree that sustains it; and it is the same with a Christian’s relationship with God for those who lose faith.

As you skirt through the 20 topics and more on blog.ivanrudolph.com, you will notice at the end of each testimony a list in purple writing. This list is of things we learn about God from the events described in that testimony. These insights enable us to know Him better and thereby to love him more deeply. They help us to “abide” in God.
