LOGIC, INTUITION AND REALITY.

Thank you for your response, Lanu — and for your obvious interest. Your comment about being guided by “that spirit in man, called the intuition” arouses two immediate thoughts in me:

  1. My training in science caused me for a long time to discount intuition: a bad mistake! I could bore you with examples, but I have at times felt uneasy at what might seem an obvious thing to do or place to go; and to my cost I have at times ignored these — but when responding to these intuitions positively have been helped immeasurably as well as avoiding situations that might have been disastrous. I have come now to believe intuition derives from our spirit and is therefore in contact with a much wider knowledge base (past and future) than simple logic gives us access to. Logic is limited to this world and helps to get us through the week, but intuition stretches far far beyond the material and should not be discounted until tested (if you have the time)and on occasion responded to positively.
  2. Intuition alone is at times not enough and can fail you! For example, last night I talked for a while with a man whose business venture had failed previously, leaving him desperate. His partner had cheated him out of millions and he had to close down his factory and associated enterprises: he could not pay his bills and his banks were phoning him persistently and daily. He could not see any way forward and would no longer be able to support his beautiful wife and children. It is not logical perhaps, but the nature of the insurance policy he carried in South Africa would enable him to be paid out if he suicided in a certain way and he set up the circumstances with careful planning. If he succeeded, his wife and family would at least be well cared for. NO INTUITION HELPED HIM AT THIS CRITICAL JUNCTURE. He said his surreptitious goodbyes to friends without them knowing what he planned. The timing for his suicide required him to sit alone and wait. His mobile phone rang. He wanted to ignore it but eventually responded. It was a friend and he tried to put the friend off, saying something like, “I have a lot on my mind at the moment and I don’t want to talk. Sorry.”

“I haven’t phoned to talk either. I have a message from God for you, he spoke to me as I am speaking to you now. He said ‘Phone *** and tell him not to do tonight what he is planning but instead to stand firm. To stand.”

My startled friend obeyed, no-one but God could have known his plans, and the very next morning a phonecall came out of the blue with an offer that has enabled him to rebuild his business. He has cleared his debts and he is now powering ahead with a new factory and outlets in 4 cities.

No amount of “intuition” would have achieved that — an external intervention was needed instead.

INTUITION? LIKE MUCH ELSE IN LIFE — THE ANSWER IS “YES — AND PERHAPS NO”. THERE ARE NO RECIPE SYSTEMS FOR LIFE SUCH AS WE WOULD ALL LIKE — NEVERTHELESS, SEEK OUT GOD AND THEN OBEY HIM, WHICH IS THE CLOSEST WAY FORWARD THAT WE HAVE.

THE SHOCK BECOMES THERE IS NO SYSTEM FOR SOLUTIONS, BUT THAT TRUE SOLUTIONS REST IN RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD — NOT SYSTEM, BUT INSTEAD RELATIONSHIP!!
